Axe(s) of research

The Bioinformatics, Phylogeny and Evolutionary Genomics team studies comparative genomics and develops various bioinformatics methods. Our main research themes are:
• Analysis of the evolutionary consequences of the mechanisms of mutation and replication: impact of the genetic recombination on genome evolution, origin and evolution of sexual chromosomes, evolution of base composition.
• Molecular phylogeny of bacteria and archaea, and methodological developments for phylogenetic reconstruction.
• Spatiotemporal analysis of microbial diversity.
• Evolution of gene repertoires : consequences of gene duplication, detection of horizontal gene transfers, evolution of protein modularity.

Key words: Evolutionary biology, Comparative genomics, Modeling, Bioinformatics, Phylogeny
