Work Package 2: Multi-infections

The work-package 2 will focus on mechanisms and epidemiology of multi-infections. Multi-infections are the rule but this context is not still completely taken into account in the management of infectious diseases.
Thus, the first challenge will be to decipher the molecular and cellular mechanisms governing interactions between infectious agents. This will enable us to understand the synergistic or antagonistic effects of their relationships, or the dynamics of resistance emergence in a multi-parasitic context.

Two major research topics:

► To understand viral and/or bacterial co-infections at the molecular and cellular levels

► To identify synergistic and antagonistic interactions between infectious agents in natural conditions

These interactions will be studied in environments of variable complexity and particularly at the hospital, an intermediate environment between natural conditions and highly controlled laboratory conditions.
